Dora and Feliks are siblings. They live in Australia. When they were only 5 weeks old, someone found them wandering down a dusty Australian road. And he took with him. They were taken care of by a shelter run by the RSPCA.
It quickly became clear that the little ones needed help. The reason for their unusual appearance was discovered - both kittens had no eyelids! They were born like that. And if left like this, they would most likely lose their sight within a year ...
When the siblings were six months old, they went to a specialist animal ophthalmology clinic. There, an operation to restore the eyelids was undertaken. During the 8-hour treatments, skin fragments were taken from the cheeks of the animals and transplanted to form the eyelids. Both operations ran without complications.
Now, a few months after the treatments, Dora and Feliks can finally blink normally and their eyes are protected. Both kittens' eyesight was saved.
They only need one thing to be fully happy - a common home.
The siblings are awaiting adoption at the RSPCA shelter in New South Wales.
